Why I Decided to Blog

While I’m so thankful for the incredible team at Zondervan that helped publish The Poor Will Be Glad, by the time I finished writing, rewriting, editing, and going to press, I had forgotten what the book was about. It was almost two years from when I wrote content to when it was published.

So my friend Chris Horst (who writes what I think is the best blog out there, Smorgasblurb) and I were discussing this and thought it’s time for me to do less formal blogging on topics that I’ve thought a great deal about: How do followers of Jesus get involved in joining our words and our deeds to bring Good News to the poor? How can the church be back at the forefront of tackling the world’s most urgent issues? How do we raise up followers of Jesus who lead sacrificially and thoughtfully engage the problem of poverty, who are excited about this period—a time when poverty is being alleviated at the fastest rate ever in our history—and this blog is the space where I would like to offer less polished dialogue about the issues that I care about most. Thank you for reading!
