There’s No Such Thing As a Banana Tree

Celebrating Christmas in Rwanda several years ago, my wife and I took a string of lights  and wrapped it around a banana plant–which became our “Christmas tree.”   I thought of this story while making a short video to thank our key supporters (below).

Warning: The screen shot is ridiculous. Also, I talk about a “banana tree,” and, I’ve been thoroughly chastised that, technically, it’s a “banana plant” …

We made this video to thank our key friends and supporters for helping us accomplish the following  in 2011:

  1. Thanks to you, over 365,000 families are being reached throughout 16 countries in our network.
  2. Thanks to you, seven years ago 300 families supported our mission; today over 3,000 families come alongside HOPE through their prayers and finances.
  3. Thanks to you, we’ve also been able to add three new programs (savings) in Peru, Zimbabwe, and another one in India.

Because of you, lives are being transformed, the hope of Christ is being shared, and dignity is being restored.  I am so incredibly grateful for your coming alongside HOPE in 2011.
